Buying a Used Vehicle

Welcome to my website. My name is Frances Reed. If you’re considering buying a used car, you are in the right place. I recently had my first experience with purchasing a used car and want to share some tips I learned along the way. When I began my search, the important things were color, comfort, and low mileage. I ended up with a green vehicle (which isn't on my favorite color list,) it has over 150,000 miles driven, but it is comfortable. I was very fortunate and had a friend who’s a mechanic come with me to test drive vehicles. Tip number one: be sure you have a mechanic check out vehicles before you buy. I hope I can offer you some valuable information here.

3 Signs That Might Mean Your Transmission Needs Some Help

by Connor Ferguson

If you want to make sure that you are doing everything possible to keep your vehicle on the road and in great running shape, you need to be aware of transmission trouble signs. This way, you will not have to worry about becoming completely stranded thanks to a blown out transmission.

You can hopefully have the problems repaired before they get to the point of being irreversible:

Trouble Shifting Gears

Whether you have an automatic or manual transmission, it will still shift gears as you accelerate your vehicle. The acceleration from one gear to the next should be a smooth process. Should that change and you begin to notice a jerking, thumping, or hesitation when the transmission goes to shift, you should know that this is a indication of a problem that needs to be corrected.

It is not something that should just be considered normal for the age of the vehicle. Once a transmission starts to slip, you are going to find that it is only a matter of time before it stops working altogether unless you get it fixed.

Fluid Leakage

Leaking transmission fluid all over the driveway is not something that you have to deem as acceptable. Even if your vehicle is only leaking a small amount of transmission fluid, it is a problem that is going to need to be addressed. After all, if there is fluid on your driveway, there is less fluid running through your transmission.

If you are not careful, your vehicle could run completely dry, which would cause the transmission to lock up. Therefore, the moment you notice that your vehicle is leaking transmission fluid is the moment you need to schedule an appointment with a transmission shop. In the meantime, make sure that you are keeping an eye on your fluid levels so the vehicle does not run dry.

No More Reverse

A properly functioning transmission will allow you to swiftly shift into every available gear. Should you notice that you are suddenly not able to go into reverse, or any other gear for that matter, you need to recognize it as a transmission problem. Do not simply try to alter your driving habits so that you can get around the fact that your vehicle will not go into all of its gears. Over time, more gears will fail until you are no longer able to move it at all.

As you can see, there are some clear signs of transmission trouble. Should you happen to notice any of those, you need to get your vehicle to a skilled transmission shop as quickly as possible. To learn more, contact a company like Unlimited Service with any questions you have.
