Buying a Used Vehicle

Welcome to my website. My name is Frances Reed. If you’re considering buying a used car, you are in the right place. I recently had my first experience with purchasing a used car and want to share some tips I learned along the way. When I began my search, the important things were color, comfort, and low mileage. I ended up with a green vehicle (which isn't on my favorite color list,) it has over 150,000 miles driven, but it is comfortable. I was very fortunate and had a friend who’s a mechanic come with me to test drive vehicles. Tip number one: be sure you have a mechanic check out vehicles before you buy. I hope I can offer you some valuable information here.

The Advantages Of Diesel Powered Engines

by Connor Ferguson

Diesel fuel is an alternative to regular gasoline, and offers a number of advantages. Understanding the advantages that diesel powered engines offer can allow you to make an educated opinion about whether or not a diesel powered vehicle is the right fit for you.

Advantages of Diesel Engines

Diesel engines deliver much more mileage than gasoline engines, offering up to a third better fuel economy than gasoline powered engines, or even gasoline-electric hybrids. Of course, this depends on the model of the car, but as a general rule of thumb you are able to drive significantly further with a diesel powered engine than a gasoline powered one. Diesel powered engines also provide greater torque to the vehicle's drive shaft than a gasoline engine does. This translates into two main benefits. First of all, diesel cars will be able to accelerate faster from a standstill than gasoline powered cars will be able to. Secondly, diesel powered vehicles will be able to tow greater weights than gasoline powered engines.

On top of both of these benefits, diesel powered engines also tend to last much longer than gasoline powered engines, and require fewer repairs and check ups to stay properly functioning. This is due to the construction of diesel engines. For instance, they do not have spark plugs. The fewer parts in a diesel engine mean that they are much less likely to encounter complications or become damaged over time. This cuts down on maintenance costs, and allows you to drive the same vehicle for a longer period of time, saving you money on purchasing a new vehicle.

Considerations

Though diesel powered engines offer a great variety of benefits, you should take a number of considerations into account. First of all, diesel fuel tends to cost more than gasoline, which means that the cost savings from better fuel efficiency may be negative over time. Secondly, diesel does not provide the same speed performance that gasoline does. Diesel engines provide strength and durability, while gasoline engines provide speed and performance at the expense of being less durable. Finally, even though diesel engines require less maintenance than gasoline engines, they still need to be regularly cleaned out and checked up on to ensure that they continue to function properly. If major problems result in a diesel engine, it costs much more to have the problem fixed or a part replaced, as diesel engines are much less common than gasoline engines.
